                            At a Court held for ye County of Somerset in the Province of Maryland

                            by their Maties Justices of the Peace thereunto appointed the 13th

                            of August anno Domini 1695

Comrs prsent        mr ffra. Jenckins mr Tho. Dixon mr Samll Hopkins mr Ja. Round , mr

                            Geo Layfield mr Jno King mr Stephen Horsey mr Arnold Elzey

Their Maties agt. The sd Upshot being bound to appear at this

John Upshott    ] Court to answer to their Maties &ca. he the

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Sd Upshott appearing & upon examination

&ca did produce this following Certificate (viz) These presents may

Certifie all persons whome it Concerns that John Upshott & Mary Thomas

were joined together in Matrimony according to the form of ye Church of

England & the Customes of Virginia this 19th day of July 1695 by me

                                                                        Tho. Teackle

Ordered that John Upshott give Security for his good behavior & appearance

next Court &ca. Whereupon Came the sd Upshott & his two Securities viz Jno

& James Henderson & the sd Upshott did acknowledge himself to owe and be

be indebted to their Maties the Sum of 50£ Sterling & the sd John & James –

Henderson in the Sum of 25£ like money a piece & all due to be leavied on –

their goods & Chattels Lands & Tennemts for their Maties uses &ca. —

The Condicon of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound Jno Upshott

be of the good behavior & abearance to all their Maties Liedge Peoples of this

Province but more especially to Jno Thomas as also make his prsonal appearance

at the next Court held for the County afsd as also pay his fees then this Recogniz

to be void otherwayes to be & remain in full power force & vertue —

Their Maties agt           Ordered the Sheriff take into Custody ye body

Rose Mason — }          of Rose Mason, till she give Security for her –

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~           appearance next Court to answer to their Maties &ca.

Whereupon Came Thomas Quillaine & pr Recognizance did acknowledge

himSelf to owe & be indebted to their Maties the Sum of 10£ Sterling money

of England due to be leavied on his goods &ca. - - - - - - -

The Condicon of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound Tho.

Quillaine do see forth comeing Rose Mason afd So that she appear before ye

Justices to answer as afd, then the Recog. to be void, or else remain in force &ca.

mr John ffisher this day was Sworn Deputy Clk of this Court



The Last Acts of Assembly were this day published in open Court .



        By his Exclly the Governr &ca May ye 28th 1695

Ordered that the Justices of the Severall County Courts within this Province

finish & determine all Causes now depending in ye sd Courts either this next

June Court or in August Court after at farthest, under ye pain & peril that

may fall thereon, & that the Sheriffs Cause this Order to be read in open Court
