Laws of Maryland), title "Howard County," subtitle "Circuit
Court," as added, last amended by Chapter 798 of the Acts of
1961; to relieve the County Commissioners of Howard County
from paying the Judge of Circuit Court for the Fifth Judicial
Circuit the annual salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00)
per year.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 13A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Howard
County (being Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Howard County," subtitle "Circuit Court," be, and it
is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

(Senate Bill 283)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 14A-9 (a)
and (b) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County
(1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County," subtitle "People's Court
of Anne Arundel County" as last amended by Chapter 548 of the
Acts of 1965; to provide for the number of committing magistrates
and deputy committing magistrates in Anne Arundel County, re-
pealing the geographic distribution of the justices of the peace in
this county, raising the salaries of the committing magistrates,
and to transfer and codify said sections under Section 98B-9 (a)
and (b), respectively of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Cumulative Supple-
ment), provided that Chapter of the Acts of 1968 (House Bill
465) is enacted.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 14A-9 (a) and (b) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County,"
subtitle "People's Court of Anne Arundel County," as last amended
by Chapter 548 of the Acts of 1965, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
14A-9.
(a) The Governor, by and with the advice of the Senate, shall ap-
point ten (10) justices of the peace in Anne Arundel County, [four]
eight of whom shall be designated committing magistrates and [six]
two of whom shall be designated deputy committing magistrates,
[Where practicable, they shall be from different geographical areas
of the county so as to best serve the needs of all the county.] They
shall have throughout the county all the powers and jurisdiction
vested by law in justices of the peace other than trial magistrates
and substitute trial magistrates.
