108.
(a) A Board of Parole and Probation, hereinafter referred to as
the "Board," is hereby established. It is composed of three members,
one of whom is designated as its Chairman and two who are designa-
ted as associate members. The members of the Board are appointed
by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate for terms
of six years each. Of the members initially appointed as of January
1, 1969, the Chairman is appointed for a term of six years, and the
associate members for terms of four and two years respectively, and
thereafter all terms are for six years each.
(A) A BOARD OF PAROLE, HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO
AS THE "BOARD", IS HEREBY ESTABLISHED. IT IS COM-
POSED OF A CHAIRMAN AND FOUR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS.
THE MEMBERS ARE APPOINTED FOR TERMS OF EIGHT
YEARS EACH BY THE GOVERNOR, WITH THE ADVICE AND
CONSENT OF THE SENATE OF MARYLAND. FROM TIME TO
TIME THE GOVERNOR SHALL DESIGNATE THE CHAIRMAN
OF THE BOARD. OF THE MEMBERS INITIALLY APPOINTED
AS OF JANUARY 1, 1969, THE CHAIRMAN IS APPOINTED FOR
A TERM OF EIGHT YEARS, AND THE ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
FOR TERMS OF SIX, FIVE, FOUR AND TWO YEARS
RESPECTIVELY, AND THEREAFTER ALL TERMS ARE FOR
EIGHT YEARS EACH.
(b) The Governor may remove any member of the Board for dis-
ability, neglect of duty, malfeasance in office or misconduct, after
giving him written notice of the charges against him and holding a
public hearing thereon.
(c) The Chairman of the Board shall receive an annual salary of
twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($22,500.) and the
associate members shall each receive an annual salary of twenty
thousand dollars ($20,000.).
(C) THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SHALL EACH RE-
CEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF TWENTY THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($20,000.) AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BORD BOARD,
IN ADDITION TO HIS ANNUAL SALARY AS A MEMBER,
SHALL RECEIVE THE SUM OF TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($2,500.).

(a) The members of the Board shall be residents of the State,
appointed without regard to political affiliation and shall be qualified
by experience and training in law, sociology, psychology, psychiatry,
education, social work or criminology or any combination of these.
(b) The members of the Board shall devote their full time to the
duties of the Board.

(a) The Board shall have the exclusive power to. hear cases for
parole release and revocation, and to authorize the parole of persons
sentenced under the laws of this State to any penal or correctional
institution, jail or any other place of confinement or detention
therein. It shall also have the power to suspend or revoke a parole
