of time that he shall hold office as president of said association.]
except as hereinafter provided. One of the members of said Board
shall be selected in the discretion of the County Commissioners and
the first appointee so appointed shall have the term of office of six
(6) years. The remaining two (2) members of the Board shall be
competent persons, familiar with the electrical business, and the
first two (2) appointees so appointed shall have a term of office of
four (4) and two (2) years, respectively. Should any vacancy occur
from any cause during the term of any [board] member as herein
provided, the Board of County Commissioners of Charles County
shall [appoint someone] make the necessary appointment to fill such
vacancy. The Board of County Commissioners of Charles County
shall have full power to remove any member of the board for in-
competency or improper conduct upon satisfactory evidence being
presented to [him] said member of such condition.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 58
(House Bill 538)
AN ACT to add new Section 136A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Howard County (1965 Edition, being Article 14 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Howard County," subtitle
"Fire Protection," to follow immediately after Section 136 thereof,
to establish the Howard County Fire Board and provide for its
powers and duties.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 136A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Howard County (1965 Edition, being Article
14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Howard
County," subtitle "Fire Protection," to follow immediately after
Section 136 thereof, and to read as follows:
136A.
(a) There is created the Howard County Fire Board which shall
consist of seven members. Six members shall be selected by the
Howard County Volunteer Firemen's Association for such terms
and in accordance with such procedures as shall be determined by
it. The seventh member shall be appointed by the County Commis-
sioners and shall serve for a term concurrent with that of the
County Commissioners. Members of the Board shall receive no
compensation for their services except reasonable and necessary
expenses as may be provided in the Budget.
(b) The Fire Board shall advise and consult with the County
Commissioners and other county officials and employees from time
to time on matters concerning the administration of fire suppres-
sion, fire prevention, fire training, arson investigation and fire com-
munications activities.
