CHAPTER 371
(House Bill 1125)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 27-13
of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Election Code," sub-
title ''Absentee Voting," to provide that Calvert County shall not
be exempted from paying additional compensation to supervisors
as related to processing of absentee ballots.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 27-13 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Elec-
tion Code," subtitle "Absentee Voting," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

27-13.

Whenever the provisions of this subtitle are enforced at any elec-
tion the board in Baltimore City shall be entitled to receive, in
addition to the compensation now paid to them, the further sum
of $200 for each member for every such election, and the board
members in the several counties [, except Calvert County,] and
their respective clerks, in addition to the compensation now allowed
them, shall each be entitled to receive such additional sum for
services actually rendered in the performance of their duties under
this subtitle as shall be allowed them by the county commissioners
or county councils of the several counties, but in no event less than
$10 per diem for such services. Each board shall be allowed such
further sum for expenses and clerical hire in the performance of
the duties imposed upon them by this subtitle as may be reasonable
and necessary. All said expenses shall be paid by the mayor and
city council of Baltimore and the county commissioners or county
councils of the several counties, respectively, in precisely the same
way as compensation and similar election expenses are now provided
to be paid by law.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 372
(House Bill 1127)

AN ACT to add new Section 448A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Kent County (1959 Edition, being Article 15 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Kent County," as added
by Chapter 244 of the Acts of 1967, to be under the new subtitle
"Transfer Tax," to authorize the County Commissioners of Kent
County to impose a tax upon the transfer of property, and gen-
erally pertaining to such tax.
