CHAPTER 42
(House Bill 112)

AN ACT to add a new Section 18-26 to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition and 1967 Supple-
ment), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "County Commis-
sioners" to follow immediately after Section 18-25 thereof, said
new Section 18-26 to be under the new subheading "Pawnbrok-
ers," requiring pawnbrokers in Prince George's County to keep
and forward to the Superintendent of Police for Prince George's
County a daily list of articles taken on pledge, and providing a
penalty for violation thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 18-26 under the new subheading "Pawnbrokers,"
be and the same is hereby added to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement),
being also Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "County Commis-
sioners" to follow immediately after Section 18-25 thereof, and to
read as follows:

18-26

Pawnbrokers

(a)    Every pawnbroker, doing business in Prince George's County
shall cause to be written in a legible and accurate manner on forms
supplied by the Superintendent of Police for Prince George's County,
a list of articles taken on pledge each day and to forward the same
daily to the Superintendent of Police for Prince George's County.
The reports made to the Superintendent of Police shall be open to
the inspection of such persons as, in the discretion of the Super-
intendent, may be regarded as having an interest therein.

(b)    Any person violating any of the provisions of this section
shall upon conviction be subject to a fine from one hundred to five
hundred dollars for the first offense, and for the second and each
subsequent offense, a fine up to one thousand dollars.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 43
(House Bill 147)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 5(a),
8, 9, and 11(a) of Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Hall
of Records," subtitle "Hall of Records Commission," amending
the laws pertaining to the preservation of historical Maryland
records in order to correct erroneous references therein.
