statement from the warden or superintendent having custody, set-
ting forth the term of the commitment under which the prisoner is
being held, the time already served, the time remaining to be served
on the sentence, the amount of good time earned, the date of parole
eligibility of the prisoner, and any decisions of the Board of Parole
and Probation relating to the prisoner. The written notice and
statement provided herein shall be delivered by certified mail.

(b) The warden [or] , superintendent or county or city law
enforcement officer
having custody of the prisoner shall inform the
prisoner within 15 days in writing of the source and contents of any
untried indictment, information, or complaint against said prisoner
concerning which the warden, [or] superintendent or county or city
law enforcement officer
has knowledge, and of the prisoner's right
to make a request for final disposition thereof.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 304
(House Bill 800)

AN ACT to add new Section 15A to Article 59 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement),
title "Lunatics and Insane," subtitle "Insanity As A Defense in
Criminal Cases," to follow immediately after Section 15 thereof to
provide that the judges of the People's Court of Anne Arundel

County shall have the same authority and duties granted to and

imposed upon other courts of the State under this subtitle PRO-

VIDING FOR EXAMINATION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
MENTAL HYGIENE UPON DIRECTION OF THE JUDGE OF
ANY COURT IN THIS STATE.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 15A be and it is hereby added to Article 59 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and
1967 Supplement), title "Lunatics and Insane," subtitle "Insanity
As A Defense in Criminal Cases," to follow immediately after
Section 15 thereof and to read as follows:

15A.

In Anne Arundel County to the extent of the court's jurisdiction,

the judges of the People's Court shall have and exercise the same

authority and duties granted to and imposed upon other courts of.
the state under this subtitle.

WHENEVER ANY PERSON SHALL BE ARRESTED AND
BROUGHT BEFORE A JUDGE OF ANY COURT OF THIS
STATE OR BEFORE ANY JUSTICE OF THE PEACE OF
THIS STATE, HAVING CRIMINAL JURISDICTION, CHARGED
WITH ANY OFFENSE, AND SUCH PERSON SHALL APPEAR
TO BE OR BE ALLEGED TO BE INSANE OR LUNATIC,
