(e) Any person who:

(1)    wilfully offers for recordation or records any instrument
of writing subject to the tax imposed by this section knowing that
such tax has not been paid; or

(2)    wilfully misrepresents the amount of the actual considera-
tion paid or to be paid in connection with any instrument of writ-
ing which is subject to the tax imposed by this section; or

(8) forges or counterfeits any official legend or the signature
of the Clerk, or any authorized facsimile thereof, to any instru-
ment of writing which is subject to the provisions of this section;
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall
be fined not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned
for not more than six (6) months, or both in the discretion of the
Court, for each such offense.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

(House Bill 542)

AN ACT to repeal Section 125 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Charles County being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, (1959 Edition and 1962 Supplement), and to
add new Section 125 in place thereof title "Charles County", sub-
title "Fire Companies", as last amended by Chapter 698, Sec-
tion 122 of the Acts of 1965; to provide for the financing of,
payment to, budget for, inspection of and financial reports by
the various rescue squads functioning in Charles County as well
as the removal of such financing in the event such rescue squad
does not comply with the standards applicable thereto; and to
provide further for the exclusion of the Charles County Rescue
Squad from the provisions of this section.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 125 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County
being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, (1959
Edition and 1962 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed; and
that new Section 125 be and it is hereby added, to stand in the
place of the Section so repealed, to be under the title "Charles
County", subtitle "Fire Companies", as last amended by Chapter
698, Section 122 of the Acts of 1965 to read as follows:

125. Payments to rescue squads.

(a) Financing. The Charles County Volunteer Rescue Squad
Association shall review the financing of the various rescue squads
and recommend to the Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners a
formula for the distribution of funds to the various rescue squads.
