subtitle "III. Particular Classes of Corporations," subheading
"Railroad Companies," to follow immediately after Section 229
thereof; requiring railroads to reflectorize safety gates, and pro-
viding for enforcement by the Public Service Commission STATE
ROADS COMMISSION, and penalties.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 229A be and it is hereby added to Article 23 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title
"Corporations," subtitle "III. Particular Classes of Corporations,"
subheading "Railroad Companies," and to read as follows:

229 A.

(a)    Every safety gate at every grade crossing with any public
highway or street anywhere in this State shall be reflectorized, on

its surface facing such highway or street, so as to insure visibility

at night SHALL HAVE REFLECTORS MOUNTED UPON IT OR
ATTACHED TO IT AND SUCH REFLECTORS SHALL BE OF
SUFFICIENT SIZE TO INSURE THEIR VISIBILITY AT NIGHT.

The Public Service Commission shall adopt standards for such re-
flectorization and shall enforce this section. THE STATE ROADS

COMMISSION SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING REGU-
LATIONS TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SEC-
TION AND FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE PROVISIONS
OF THIS SECTION AND SUCH REGULATIONS.

(b)    Any railroad company which neglects or refuses to comply
with a lawful order of the Public Service Commission
STATE
ROADS COMMISSION to provide or maintain such reflectorization
shall be liable for a penalty of one hundred dollars per day for each
and every day of such neglect or refusal.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 723
(House Bill 848)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 68 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Public Education"; subtitle "County Board
of Education," to repeal the requirement that taxes levied and
collected for schools shall be separately indicated on tax bills and
tax receipts IN QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY AND TO PROVIDE
THAT A CERTAIN TAX STATEMENT BE SENT TO THE
TAXPAYERS OF THIS COUNTY.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 68 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle
"County Board of Education," be and it is hereby, repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
