CHAPTER 704
(House Bill 654)

AN ACT to add new Section 42B to Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement),
title "Health" subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," to follow im-
mediately after Section 42A thereof, providing for subrogation
by the State Department of Health against certain persons under
certain conditions.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 42B be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1967
Supplement), title "Health" subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," to
follow immediately after Section 42A thereof, and to read as follows:

42B.

In any claim for benefits by an indigent or medically indigent
person, where the person has a cause of action against a third party,
the State Department of Health shall be subrogated against the third
party to the extent of any payments made by the State Department
of Health on behalf of the indigent or medically indigent person,
resulting from the occurrence which constituted the basis for the
action against the third party.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, ADD NEW
Section 23 of Article 49B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Supplement), title "Inter-
racial Commission," subtitle "Discrimination in Housing," to pro-
hibit state and local fiscal officers from depositing public funds in
lending institutions which have been found by the Maryland Inter-
racial Commission to unlawfully discriminate; and relating gen-
erally to the exercise of the Commission's authority under such
circumstances.
