1318                            LAWS OF MARYLAND                        CH. 654

AUDITOR OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL REGU-
LARLY AUDIT THE ACCOUNTS AND RECORDS OF SAID
CHIEF CLERKS AND SHALL FURNISH THE DEPARTMENT
OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND THE STATE COMPTROLLER
REGULARLY A CERTIFICATE ATTESTING TO THE FACT
THAT AN AUDIT VERIFICATION OF TRAFFIC VIOLATION
FINES AND COSTS IMPOSED IN THE PEOPLE'S COURT HAS
BEEN MADE, AND THAT ALL FINES AND COSTS DUE THE
STATE OF MARYLAND HAVE BEEN REMITTED TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES. EACH CHIEF CLERK
SHALL HAVE CUSTODY OF ALL MONIES PAID INTO THE
COURT FOR ANY PURPOSE AND SHALL DEPOSIT SUCH
MONIES PROMPTLY IN AN ACCOUNT IN HIS NAME IN
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY; EACH CHIEF CLERK SHALL
PREPARE, SIGN AND DELIVER WITH APPROPRIATE RE-
MITTANCES TO COUNTY AND STATE OFFICIALS SUCH
REPORTS OF FINES, FORFEITURES AND COSTS AS ARE
REQUIRED OF TRIAL MAGISTRATES BY LAW; EACH
CHIEF CLERK SHALL REPORT THE FUNDS IN HIS CUS-
TODY REGARDLESS OF WHICH JUDGE OR JUDGES MAY
FROM TIME TO TIME PRESIDE IN THE COURT; THE
CHIEF CLERKS SHALL PERFORM SUCH OTHER DUTIES
AS SHALL BE PROPERLY ASSIGNED TO THEM BY THE
JUDGES OF THE PEOPLE'S COURT, AND THEY SHALL
RECEIVE SUCH SALARY AS SHALL BE FIXED BY THE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SAID COUNTY; THE SAID
CHIEF CLERKS BEFORE ENTERING UPON THEIR DUTIES
SHALL EACH GIVE BOND TO THE STATE OF MARYLAND
IN THE PENALTY OF TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($25,000.00) WITH CORPORATE SURETIES SATIS-
FACTORY TO THE SAID COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, THE
PREMIUM OF SAID BONDS TO BE PAID BY THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. THE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
SHALL PROVIDE SUCH ADDITIONAL CLERICAL HELP
AND PERSONNEL AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO CARRY
OUT THE ADMINISTRATIVE WORK OF SAID COURT. ALL
CLERICAL HELP AND PERSONNEL, WITH THE EXCEP-
TION OF THE THREE CHIEF CLERKS, THE DEPUTY
CLERK FOR THE COMMITTING MAGISTRATES, AND THE
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE, ARE TO BE EMPLOYED UN-
DER AND PAID IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MERIT SYS-
TEM REGULATIONS EFFECTIVE IN PRINCE GEORGE'S
COUNTY. EACH THE CHIEF JUDGE OF THE PEOPLE'S
COURT JUDGES SHALL BE CONSIDERED THE DEPARTMENT
HEAD WITH RESPECT TO THE PEOPLE'S COURT OVER
WHICH HE PRESIDES.
OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY.

(f) Every full-time judge of the People's Court for Prince
George's County shall be paid, after the termination of active
service, if he is at least sixty-five years of age, a pension or salary
calculated at the rate of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per annum
for each year, or any part thereof, of active service, up to and in-
cluding [sixteen] twenty years of such active service, so that the
maximum pension or salary for such service payable hereunder
to any one person shall not exceed the sum of [eight thousand
dollars ($8,000.00)] ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) per annum,
