determine that such inspection is comparable to that provided under
this subtitle. If the Board does not contract with the Mayor and City

Council of Baltimore, as aforesaid, and at the time the Board begins

inspection under this subtitle in Baltimore City, or at the termina-

tion of any such contract, the Board shall employ all of the personnel
then employed by the Bureau of Meat Inspection of the Baltimore
City Health Department. All of such persons shall be
employed under-

the merit system of this State without the necessity of an examina-

tion.

(B) THE BOARD SHALL ON JULY 1, 1970 OR ON SUCH
EARLIER DATE AFTER JULY 1, 1968 AS MAY BE AGREED TO
BY THE BOARD AND THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
BALTIMORE CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUB-
TITLE IN BALTIMORE CITY. UNTIL SUCH TIME THE BOARD
IS AUTHORIZED TO CONTRACT WITH THE MAYOR AND
CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE FOR THE PERFORMANCE BY
THE BALTIMORE CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF ALL OR
ANY PART OF THE INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
SUBTITLE WITHIN BALTIMORE CITY, PROVIDED THAT THE
BOARD SHALL DETERMINE THAT SUCH INSPECTION IS
EQUAL TO THAT PROVIDED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE. IF
THE BOARD DOES NOT CONTRACT WITH THE MAYOR AND
CITY COUNCIL AS AFORESAID, OR AT THE TERMINATION
OF SUCH CONTRACT, OR ON JULY 1,1970, THE BOARD SHALL
EMPLOY ALL PERSONS ENGAGED IN SUCH WORK WHO ARE
THEN EMPLOYED BY THE BUREAU OF MEAT INSPECTION
OF THE BALTIMORE CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND
WHO WERE SO EMPLOYED AS OF MARCH 1, 1968. ALL SUCH
PERSONS WHO WERE EMPLOYED AS OF MARCH 1, 1968 BY
THE BUREAU OF MEAT INSPECTION OF THE BALTIMORE
CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SHALL BE EMPLOYED BY THE
BOARD UNDER THE MERIT SYSTEM OF THIS STATE WITH-
OUT THE NECESSITY OF AN EXAMINATION.

COST OF INSPECTION
470X.

(A)   The cost of inspection rendered under this subtitle shall be
borne by this State except as otherwise provided in Section 470W and
except that the cost of overtime, night, and holiday work performed
in establishments subject to the provisions of this subtitle at such
rates as the Board may determine shall be borne by such establish-
ments. Sums received by the Board in reimbursement of sums paid
out by him for such premium pay work shall be available without
fiscal year limitations to carry out the purposes of this subtitle.

(B)   THERE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO BE APPROPRI-
ATED SUCH SUMS AS ARE NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE. IT IS THE INTENT OF THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN THE ENACTMENT OF THIS SUB-
TITLE THAT ALL EXPENSES PROVIDED FOR HEREIN
SHALL BE MATCHED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON
AN EQUAL BASIS.
