received or promised, or to whom paid or promised, as the case may
be, and the object and purposes for which the sum, or other valuable
thing, was received, or disbursed, or promised, as the case may be.
Such books and records may be destroyed or discarded at any time
after six months
ONE YEAR from the date of filing the final report
required by Section 26-11 unless a court of competent jurisdiction
shall order their retention for a longer period.

(b)(1) Upon receipt and before depositing, the following "cam-
paign contribution receipt" shall be issued by the treasurer or sub-
treasurer to each person or treasurer of a committee or group or
organization of persons making a contribution of or purchasing a
ticket to any dinner, testimonial, cocktail party, barbecue, crab feast
or similar function in the amount of fifty-one dollars ($51.00) or
more, or upon request for any lesser amount, to the candidate or
committee of which he is treasurer or subtreasurer:

(2)    If such contribution is received by a subtreasurer, he shall
forward the contribution and a duplicate copy of the "campaign
contribution receipt" with his report to the treasurer of the candi-
date or committee for which he is subtreasurer, as required by Sec-
tions 26-11 and 26-12 of this article.

(3)    The treasurer shall retain all "campaign contribution re-
ceipts" with his books and records as required by subsection (a) of
this section and report the information therein in the statement of
contributions and expenditures required by Sections 26-11 and 26-12
of this article.

(4) The "campaign contribution receipt" issued to a contributor
shall serve as evidence of a contribution by such contributor.

(c) Any money or other thing of value received from any un-
known person or source by any treasurer or any subtreasurer, or
other persons or committee authorized to incur obligations or to pay
or defray obligations or expenses under the provisions of this article,
shall not be used for any political purpose whatsoever, but shall be
paid by the treasurer, subtreasurer, or other persons or committee so
receiving the same, to the Treasurer of the State of Maryland.
