1144                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                        CH. 594

The State Board of Cosmetologists shall have a chairman, who
shall be elected by members of the Board annually from among its
members. The Board shall appoint a secretary, who shall not be a
member of the Board, at a compensation to be fixed by the Board not
to exceed $6,000.00
$5,000.00 per year. Members of the Board may
administer oaths. It shall be the duty of said Board to hold its
monthly executive meeting on the first Tuesday of each month,
whenever possible.

The secretary of said Board shall, upon entering the performance
of his or her duties, be covered by a surety bond in accordance with
the provisions of Sections 46 through 50 of Article 78A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland.

Each member of said Board shall receive Twenty-five Dollars
($25.00) for each day employed in the actual discharge of his or
her official duties, not to exceed in any one year the sum of Three
Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($3,750.00) for any member
of the Board, and his or her necessary expenses so incurred. There
shall at all times be available for consultation at least one member
of the Board. The compensation and expenses of the members and
officers of said Board, and all expenses, including office help and
professional advice, and services which, in the opinion of said Board,
are proper and necessary to discharge its duties and to enforce the
law, shall be paid out of such fund upon the approval of the chair-
man of said Board. The salaries shall be paid by the Board at the
rate per diem, of actual service herein provided and traveling ex-
penses, in accordance with State regulations, shall be allowed to
members of the Board for attendance at Board meetings. Said Board
may also employ inspectors to assist the Board in the discharge of
its duties. The compensation of the inspectors shall be as provided
in the State budget and be payable out of the funds of the Board.

If the Board finds that the applicant has submitted the credentials
required by this subtitle for admission to examination, and has paid
the registration and examination fees required by this subtitle, the

Board shall admit such applicant to examination, and shall issue

certificates of registration to practice as operator, COSMETOL-
OGIST, manager, demonstrator or teacher, as the case may be, to

those successfully passing the required examinations. The said Board

shall meet in the City of Baltimore on the second Tuesday of Janu-

ary and July of each year for the purpose of holding examinations,

or oftener and elsewhere if deemed necessary. Two THREE mem-
bers of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of hold-
ing examinations.

for the qualifications, registration and examination of applicants to
