Mr. Ambrosen had a distinguished career. He served as Princi-
pal of the West Virginia School for the Deaf in Romney, West
Virginia, from 1939 to 1941. He was a veteran of World War II,
serving from 1941 to 1945 as a Navy Lieutenant. Following World
War II, Mr. Ambrosen served from 1945 to 1947 as Chief of the
Special Rehabilitation Procedures for the Veteran's Administra-
tion Branch Office at St. Paul, Minnesota. From 1945 to 1953, he
was Principal of the Minnesota School for the Deaf at Faribault,
Minnesota. He served as Principal of the Florida School for the
Deaf at St. Augustine, Florida, from 1953 to 1955.

In 1955, Mr. Ambrosen came to Maryland as Superintendent of
the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Maryland. He served
in this position with honor and distinction until his sudden and
untimely death. Effective June 30, 1967, he was to have assumed
the position of Assistant to the Head of the National Technical
Institute for the Deaf, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester,
New York.

Among his other achievements, Mr. Ambrosen was a member
and Past President of the Frederick Rotary Club. He served as
President of the American Instructors of the Deaf, a national organ-
ization of teachers of the deaf, from 1963 to 1965. He was instru-
mental in securing Federal grants for experimental programs in
key-punch training for deaf students, for experimental rhythm
training films for the deaf, a survey of library facilities in schools
for the deaf and recommendations for standards for libraries and
personnel.

Mr. Ambrosen was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in
Frederick, Maryland, where he also served as a teacher in the Young
Couple's Class. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of
the Y.M.C.A. of Frederick, Maryland; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Senate of Maryland expresses its sympathy at
the sudden and untimely death of Lloyd A. Ambrosen; and be it
further

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to send
copies of this Resolution to Mrs. Lloyd Ambrosen, 125 Clarke Place,
Frederick, Maryland; Mrs. Richard Cody, DeKalb, Illinois; Miss Har-
riett June Ambrosen, William Lloyd Ambrosen, both of 125 Clarke
Place, Frederick, Maryland; Mr. and Mrs. Gulick Ambrosen, Winona,
Minnesota, and Colonel Edwin Ambrosen, Dobbins Air Force Base,
Georgia.

Read and adopted.

RECESS

At 11:10 o'clock P.M. on motion of Mr. Hughes, the Senate took a
