952                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                      [CH. 395

VIOLATION OF THIS SUBTITLE IS PUNISHABLE UPON
CONVICTION BY FINE OF NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,000.00) OR BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT TO
EXCEED ONE YEAR, OR BOTH. ANY SUBSEQUENT CONVIC-
TION OF A VIOLATION OF THIS SUBTITLE IS PUNISHABLE
BY A FINE OF NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($5,000.00) OR BY IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT TO EXCEED
THREE YEARS, OR BOTH.

Upon the conviction of the accused, the court, when the conviction
becomes final, may order any matter or advertisement, in respect
whereof the accused stands convicted, and which remains in the
possession or under the control of the State's Attorney or any
law enforcement agency, to be destroyed, and the court may cause
to be destroyed any such material in its possession or under its
control.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That if any provision of this
Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid for any reason, the invalidity shall not affect the other pro-
visions or any other application of this Act which can be given effect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, all the
provisions of this Act are hereby declared to be severable.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to any acts occurring prior
to the effective date of this Act.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.

Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 395
(Senate Bill 659)

AN ACT to add new Sections 37 through 41, inclusive, to Article
38A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Vol-
ume), title "Fires and Investigations" to follow immediately after
Section 36 thereof and to be under the new subtitle "Mutual Aid
Agreements by Fire Companies," to authorize fire departments,
fire companies or rescue squads to enter into mutual aid agree-
ments with the fire departments, fire companies or government of
adjacent jurisdictions within or without the State, and into simi-
lar agreements with the Federal Government; and to provide for
waiver of claims, appropriate indemnities and benefits of Work-
men's Compensation and related laws.
