Execution," to INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY ex-
empt from execution one hundred dollars in money and one thou-
sand dollars in other property.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 8 and 9 of Article 83 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Sales and Notices," subtitle
"Exemption from Execution," be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
8.
One FIVE hundred dollars in [property, whether the same con-
sists of] money, [land or goods, EXCEPT THAT NOT MORE THAN
ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS THEREOF SHALL BE IN MONEY
for every EACH defendant,] or one thousand dollars in other prop-
erty, whether consisting of land or goods as well as all money pay-
able in the nature of insurance, benefit or relief in the contingency or
event of sickness, accident, hurt or death of any person, shall be ex-
empt from execution or seizure in satisfaction of debt or claim upon
any judgment in any civil proceedings, except on judgments for
breach of promise to marry or for seduction.

Each defendant in any such execution may select [property, real or
personal,] land or goods to the value of one [hundred] thousand TO
THE TOTAL VALUE OF FIVE HUNDRED dollars, to be ascer-
tained by three disinterested appraisers to be summoned and sworn
by the officer at the time of levying the execution; and the appraise-
ment signed by the appraisers shall be returned with the writ.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

(House Bill 10)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 103
and 112 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965
Replacement Volume), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "Tax
Sales," subheading "Foreclosure of Rights of Redemption by
Equity Suits," to make the holders of certain easements on tax sale
properties parties to proceedings to foreclosure the right of re-
demption of such properties, to make the title to such properties
passing at a tax sale to certain public and private easements, and
to correct an error therein.
