AN ACT to repeal Section 120 of Article 89B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Supplement), title "State Roads," sub-
title "Bonds, Notes or Other Evidence of Indebtedness," subhead-
ing "Bridge, Tunnel and Motorway Revenue Bonds," and to enact
new Section 120 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section
repealed, to authorize the State Roads Commission to construct
a toll bridge facility across the Chesapeake Bay at any location
designated by the Commission RELATING GENERALLY TO
TOLL STRUCTURES ACROSS THE CHESAPEAKE BAY AND
THE BALTIMORE HARBOR, AND, IN ADDITION TO SUCH
CROSSINGS HERETOFORE CONSTRUCTED, AUTHORIZING
THE STATE ROADS COMMISSION TO CONSTRUCT AN AD-
DITIONAL TUNNEL ACROSS THE BALTIMORE HARBOR,
AN ADDITIONAL CROSSING ACROSS THE CHESAPEAKE
BAY GENERALLY PARALLEL TO THE EXISTING CHESA-
PEAKE BAY BRIDGE, A NORTHERN CROSSING OF SUCH
BAY BETWEEN MILLERS ISLAND IN BALTIMORE COUNTY
AND KENT COUNTY, A SOUTHERN CROSSING OF SUCH
BAY BETWEEN CALVERT COUNTY AND DORCHESTER
COUNTY, AND TO ISSUE REVENUE BONDS OF THE STATE
TO PAY THE COSTS THEREOF AND REQUIRING CERTAIN
CONTRACTS THEREFOR TO BE APPROVED BY THE BOARD
OF PUBLIC WORKS.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 120 of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1966 Supplement), title "State Roads," subtitle "Bonds, Notes
or Other Evidence of Indebtedness," subheading "Bridge, Tunnel
and Motorway Revenue Bonds," be and it is hereby repealed, and
that new Section 120 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to
stand in the place of the Section repealed, and to read as follows:
120.
(A) In order to remove the present handicaps and hazards on the
congested highways in the State, to facilitate vehicular traffic be-
tween different sections of the State, to promote the agricultural
and industrial development of the State, and to provide for the
construction of modern transportation facilities embodying practical
safety devices, the State Roads Commission is hereby authorized
and empowered to construct, maintain, repair and operate bridges,
tunnels and motorways (as hereinafter defined), including a cross-
ing (as hereinafter defined) across the Chesapeake Bay at at any loca-
tion designated by the Commission, and other crossings across such
bay, and an additional tunnel across the Baltimore Harbor, and to
issue revenue bonds of the State, payable solely from revenues, to
pay the cost of such projects GENERALLY PARALLEL TO THE
EXISTING CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE BETWEEN SANDY
POINT AND KENT ISLAND, A NORTHERN CROSSING OF THE
BAY BETWEEN MILLERS ISLAND IN BALTIMORE COUNTY
AND A POINT IN KENT COUNTY, A SOUTHERN CROSSING
OF THE BAY BETWEEN CALVERT COUNTY AND DORCHES-
TER COUNTY, AND AN ADDITIONAL TUNNEL ACROSS THE
