Cecil County cases involving in excess of $100.00 may be tried only
before the trial magistrate who sits in Elkton, provided, however,
that the substitute trial magistrate when sitting in Elkton may try
cases involving in excess of $100.00.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 286
(House Bill 764)

AN ACT to add new Section 122C to Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title "County
Commissioners," subtitle "Junk Yards," to follow immediately
after Section 122B thereof, to provide for screening or fencing
junk yards in Calvert County and penalties for violations thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 122C be and it is hereby added to Article 25 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume),
title "County Commissioners," subtitle "Junk Yards," to follow im-
mediately after Section 122B thereof, and to read as follows:

122C.

(a)    In Calvert County, any person, firm or corporation who shall
keep, maintain or operate in the county any junk yard, dump,
automobile junk yard, outdoor place where old motor vehicles are
stored or dismantled, or lot on which refuse, trash or junk is de-
posited within one hundred (100) feet of any interstate, state or
county highway or road shall screen or fence said premises in
such manner that they are not visible from any such road or highway.

(b)    Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate the pro-
visions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon
conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars
($1,000.00).

(c)    The provisions of this section are deemed supplementary to
the authority of the county to regulate the premises herein men-
tioned by zoning or by the provisions of Section 122A of this sub-
title or otherwise.

(d)    The provisions of this section shall apply to all junk yards,
dumps, automobile junk yards, outdoor places where old motor ve-
hicles are stored or dismantled, or lots on which refuse, trash or
junk is deposited, created after June 1, 1967, and shall also apply
to all such junk yards, etc., eighteen (18) months after June 1, 1967.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
