CHAPTER 234
(House Bill 346)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 45 (a)
of Article 66˝ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition
and 1966 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Adminis-
tration—Registration—Titling," amending the laws relating to
registration of motor vehicles by extending the time in which
applications for new certificates of title may be submitted.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 45 (a) of Article 66˝ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition and 1966 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles,"
subtitle "Administration—Registration—Titling," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows :

45.

(a) A transferee shall immediately present the certificate of title
endorsed and assigned as hereinbefore provided to the Department
and make application for and obtain a new certificate of title for
such vehicle, except as otherwise permitted. In the case of failure
to apply to the Department for such application within [ten]
twenty THIRTY days following the date of purchase of the vehicle,
the Department may assess, in its discretion, an additional service fee
of five dollars ($5.00) for making the transfer of titling.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

Approved April 14, 1967.

CHAPTER 235
(House Bill 366)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 213,
214, 215, 216, 218 and 219 of Article 16 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title "Chancery," sub-
title "Uniform Gifts to Minors Act," amending the Maryland
Uniform Gifts to Minors Act to clarify some of the definitions
therein contained, to add life insurance policies and annuity con-
tracts to the kinds of personal property which may be the subject
of gifts under the Act, to permit gifts to be made by will or
trust instrument, to enlarge and clarify the methods by which
a successor custodian may be designated and such property trans-
ferred to him, to provide custodial powers with respect to such
property, and relating generally to the Maryland Uniform Gifts
to Minors Act.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 213, 214, 215, 216, 218 and 219 of Article 16 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume) title
