CHAPTER 728
(House Bill 420)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51 (p)
of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition
and 1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners,"
subtitle "County Treasurers," to increase the salary of the County
Treasurer of Prince George's County and to eliminate the pro-
vision that he shall pay the compensation of certain clerks out
of his salary, and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Section 20-15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1963 Edition), being also Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
subtitle "County Treasurer," to delete provisions therein as to the
salary of the Treasurer of Prince George's County inasmuch as
the same is set forth in the Annotated Code of Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51(p) of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edi-
tion and 1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners,"
subtitle "County Treasurers," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

51.

(p) Prince George's County.—The county treasurer of Prince
George's County shall receive an annual salary of $13,000.00
$15,000.00 $12,500.00 [$6,000.00, out of which he shall pay the com-
pensation of certain clerks].

Sec. 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 20-15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being also Article 17 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
subtitle "County Treasurer," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

20-15. [Salary] Budget; expense allowance.

[The Treasurer of Prince George's County shall receive in full
compensation for the discharge of his official duties as collector of
taxes levied for State and County purposes the sum of Seven Thou-
sand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) for each year of his term
of office, which shall be payable semi-monthly provided that there
shall be no change in his salary received by the Treasurer of Prince
George's County until April 1, 1955, when such salary shall be-
come payable.] The Treasurer of Prince George's County shall be
allowed an expense account of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($2,500.00) annually, and the Treasurer shall receive no other
compensation or fee for the collection of any taxes, charges or fees
or the performance of his duties. The Treasurer shall make up a
budget each year showing the estimated expenditures of his of-
fice for clerical help, supplies and equipment, and other necessary
office expenses, subject to the approval of the County Commissioners.
The County Commissioners of Prince George's County are author-
ized and directed to levy each year such sums of money necessary
