(Senate Bill 445)
AN ACT to repeal Section 2 of Chapter 875 of the Laws of 1965,
the Chapter being Section 61A of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1963 Edition, being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's
County", subtitle "Public Officials", to repeal the local law setting
forth penalties against persons who maliciously file any affidavit,
make any public written or oral statement, or issue any charge
through any public media of communications accusing any public
official of conflict of interest, having knowledge of their falsity or
with reckless disregard of whether they are true or false.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 2 of Chapter 875 of the Laws of 1965, the Chapter being
Section 61A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1963 Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County", subtitle "Public
Officials", be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 684

AN ACT to repeal Sections 238 (c), (d) and (e), Section 238A (b),
Section 239 (b), and Section 240 (b), all of Article 81 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1966
Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes," and subtitle "State De-
partment of Assessments and Taxation," and to enact a new Sec-
tion 241 to Article 81 to place assessor personnel in Montgomery
County under the Montgomery County merit system.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 238 (c), (d), (e), Section 238A (b), Section 239 (b)
and Section 240 (b) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume and 1966 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new Section 241 of
Article 81, Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume
and 1966 Supplement) is hereby enacted to read as follows:

All assessor personnel in Montgomery County, by whatever title
designated, shall be considered for all purposes as Montgomery
