correct by more than the per cent fixed by the Commission, the
Commission shall order the substitution of a correct meter at the
expense of the company.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 51 and 52 of Article 78 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Supplement), title "Public Service Com-
mission Law," subtitle "Gas and Electric Companies," be and they
are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
51. Meters
No person shall furnish or put in use for revenue billing purposes
any gas meter [unless it has been inspected, proved and sealed,] or
any electric meter unless it has been [inspected, approved, and
stamped or marked,] authorized by the Commission. Every gas and
electric company shall maintain in an appropriate place a suitable
apparatus, approved, and stamped or marked by the Commission,
for testing the accuracy of gas and electric meters furnished by it
for use. On the written request of any consumer, his meter shall be
tested thereby, in his presence if he desires.
52. Same—Inspection
Any consumer may, by written request, compel an inspection and
test of his meter by the Commission. If an electric meter or a gas
meter is incorrect to the prejudice of the consumer by [as much as
four per cent or a gas meter by as much as two per cent] more than
the percentage fixed by the Commission, the Commission shall order
the substitution of a correct meter at the expense of the Company.
Otherwise, the expense of testing shall be borne by the consumer.
A uniform reasonable charge shall be fixed by the Commission for
this service.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 88 (d)
of Article 78 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Public Service Commission Law," subtitle
"Procedure Before Commission," amending the law concerning the
annual filing fee of certain public service companies in order to
change the formula for computing the amount thereof, and cor-
recting an error therein.
