validity of any portion of this subtitle, shall in no way affect the
validity of any portion thereof, which can be given effect, without
such invalid part. But the provisions of this section shall not apply
to females employed in the canning or preserving, or preparing for
canning or preserving perishable fruit and vegetables. And provided
further that in any retail mercantile establishments located outside
of the City of Baltimore a female may be permitted to work on
Saturdays and on Christmas Eve and the five working days next
preceding Christmas Eve not more than twelve hours, if during
each of such Saturdays and Christmas Eve and five days aforesaid
the female so employed shall have at least two rest intervals of not
less than one hour each, and this provision shall only apply to such
mercantile establishments as have during the remainder of the
calendar year a working day of not more than nine hours. THIS
SECTION SHALL NOT APPLY TO THE SCHEDULING OF
WORK WHEN A BONA FIDE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
AGREEMENT IS IN EFFECT.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 459

(Senate Bill 278)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 81 (f) (2)
of Article 66˝ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Administration—Regis-
tration—Titling", to authorize the issuance of dump service regis-
trations under the motor vehicle laws to trucks carrying bulk
feeds.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 81 (f) (2) of Article 66˝ of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1966 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Ad-
ministration—Registration—Titling", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

81.

(f) (2) Provided any truck having ľ ton manufacturers' rating
capacity and under shall pay, $17.00. Provided further that in addi-
tion to the aforegoing registrations, the Department shall issue reg-
istrations to be known as "dump service registration" providing for
a gross weight of vehicle and load of not more than forty thousand
(40,000) pounds for two axle vehicles nor more than sixty-five thou-
sand (65,000) pounds for three or more axle vehicles, upon applica-
tion therefor and certification by the applicant that the vehicle for
which registration is sought is a dump truck for the hauling of loose
materials in bulk or a truck used for the hauling of feeds in bulk.
The Department may so issue license tags hereafter issued of this
class as to distinguish their character and shall in any event be
required to stamp registration cards issued pursuant to such appli-
