AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, subsections 5 (a)
and 7 of Section 73A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mont-
gomery County (1960 Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery County", sub-
title "Washington Suburban Transit District"; and to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, subsections 5 (a) and 7 of Section 83A
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Prince George's County", subtitle "Washington
Suburban Transit District", both sections as enacted by Chapter
870 of the Acts of 1965; to provide a term of office for appointed
members of the Washington Suburban Transit District Commis-
sion and to provide for per diem compensation to certain members
of the Commission for meetings attended as authorized by the
Commission.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That subsections 5 (a) and 7 of Section 73A of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Montgomery County (1960 Edition, being Article 16
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery
County", subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit District", and sub-
sections 5 (a) and 7 of Section 83A of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1963 Edition, being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's
County", subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit District", both sec-
tions as enacted by Chapter 870 of the Acts of 1965, be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
73A and 83A.
5 (a)
The Commission shall be composed of six members, three to be
appointed by the County Council of Montgomery County and three
by the Board of County Commissioners of Prince George's County.
At least one commissioner from each county shall be appointed from
among the members of the County Council and the Board of County
Commissioners. The other commissioners may be selected from
among the members of the respective governing bodies or may be
selected from qualified residents of each county as the County Council
and the Board of County Commissioners see fit. [Each commission
commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of his respective appointing
body. Unless otherwise removed at the pleasure of the appointing
bodies.] Each commissioner who shall be appointed from among
the members of the County Council and the Board of County Com-
missioners shall serve at the pleasure of his respective appointing
body. Commissioners who are not appointed from the members of
the County Council and the Board of County Commissioners shall be
appointed for a period and term of three years. , PROVIDED,
HOWEVER, THAT EXCEPT FOR COMMISSIONERS WHO
HAVE BEEN APPOINTED AS OF MARCH 15, 1966, AND WHO
ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE RESPECTIVE GOVERNING
BODIES, COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE APPOINTED FOR A
THREE-YEAR TERM AND PERIOD BY THE RESPECTIVE
