CHAPTER 48
(Senate Bill 340)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6 (a) of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume), title "Public Education", subtitle "Formation of Boards",
to increase the membership of the Frederick County School Board
from six to seven.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 6 (a) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education", subtitle "For-
mation of Boards", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

6.

(a) County boards of education shall be composed in the counties
of Carroll, [Frederick,] Dorchester, and Washington, of six mem-
bers; in Baltimore, Prince George's, Frederick, and Somerset coun-
ties of seven members, and in each of the other counties (except
Allegany, Anne Arundel, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Harford, Howard,
Kent, Montgomery, St. Mary's, Wicomico, Worcester and Talbot for
which separate provisions are made in this article), of three mem-
bers, who shall be appointed from the citizens of the county by the
Governor for a term of six years from the first Monday in May next
succeeding their appointment, and they shall hold office until their
successors qualify. Provided that the terms of office of persons who
are members of the county boards on passage of this section shall
not be affected by its provisions, except as otherwise specifically
provided; and provided further that on or before the first Monday in
May of 1929, the Governor shall appoint in the counties of Baltimore,
Carroll, Frederick, Dorchester, Washington and Somerset, two mem-
bers, one for a term of five years and one for a term of six years
from the first Monday in May, 1929. Thereafter the term of each
member appointed to the boards from each county (except Anne
Arundel and Allegany counties) shall be six years.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 49
(Senate Bill 470)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 32 (a)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Alcoholic Beverages", subtitle "Local Licenses and License
Provisions", authorizing the Cecil County board of license com-
missioners to issue an "on sales" license for the sale of beer, wine
and liquor to any bona fide private golf and country club in the
county having a golf course meeting certain requirements.
