CHAPTER 328
(House Bill 166)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 108 (16)
(a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1963-1964
Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Trial
Magistrates System," to increase the salary of the judges of the
People's Court of Prince George's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 108 (16) (a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1963-1964 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the
Peace," subtitle "Trial Magistrates System," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

108.

(16) (a) There shall be two full-time judges of the People's
Court of Prince George's County, each of whom shall receive a salary
of [$12,500] $21,000 $18,000 per year.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

Approved April 29, 1966.

CHAPTER 329
(House Bill 218)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 8 of
Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualification and Selection of
Jurors," to delete the exception in the law regarding women
jurors in Calvert, St. Mary's and Charles Counties thereby making
no distinction between the sexes regarding jury service in said
counties.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8 of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualification
and Selection of Jurors," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

8.

Hereafter no person shall be disqualified for service as a juror of
this State by reason of sex, but the provisions of law relating
to the qualifications of jurors and exemption from jury duty shall
in all cases apply to women as well as men, and the lists from which
jurors are drawn shall include the names of men and women. In
[Calvert,] Garrett [, St. Mary's and Charles counties] County jury

duty for women shall be optional; and any woman whose name is

drawn for jury duty shall be excused therefrom upon her request,
