(8)  File requests for permission to spend funds appropriated for
the Supreme Bench and for offices related to and serving the Supreme
Bench and approve all proper vouchers for the expenditure of such
funds.

(9)  Secure and maintain space for courtrooms and office facilities
and purchase, exchange, and distribute equipment and supplies for
the judges and the offices, officers, and employees of the Supreme
Bench, as supported by appropriations in the Ordinance of Estimates.

(10)  Collect and compile statistical data and other information
on the expenditures and receipts of the Supreme Bench and related
offices and make periodic reports thereof to the judges of the Supreme
Bench.

(11)  Consult with and assist the Clerks of Court and other officers
and employees of the Supreme Bench, and of offices related to and

serving the Supreme Bench.

(12)  Investigate complaints with respect to the operation of the
Supreme Bench and make such recommendations to the judges of the
Supreme Bench as may be appropriate.

(13)  Perform such additional duties as may be assigned by the
Supreme Bench.

(14) Prepare and publish an annual report on the activities of the
Administrative Office of the Supreme Bench.

303E. The authority of the judges of the Supreme Bench of Bal-
timore City to appoint other administrative or clerical personnel is
not limited by any provision of this subtitle.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 225
(Senate Bill 212)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 49 of
Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Insurance Code", subtitle "3. Insurers: Authoriza-
tion and General Requirements", to increase the amount of surplus
required of an insurance company to do business in the State, and
to provide for the effect of this Act upon Section 5 of Chapter 553
of the Acts of 1963.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance Code", subtitle "3.
Insurers: Authorization and General Requirements", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

49. (1) In addition to the minimum capital stock required by
Section 48, no insurer shall be granted an original certificate of
authority to engage in a particular kind or combination of kinds of
