CHAPTER 219
(Senate Bill 121)

AN ACT to repeal Section 3 of Article 94 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1965 Supplement), title
"Time", and to enact a new Section 3 to stand in the place of the
section so repealed, providing on a State-wide basis for the use
of daylight-saving time during a certain period and making further
provision for the use of daylight-saving time. and the enforcement

of this act.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Article 94 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume and 1965 Supplement), title "Time", be
and it is hereby repealed, and that new Section 3 be and it is hereby
added to said Article of the Code, to stand in the place of the section
so repealed, and to read as follows:

3.

(a)  Notwithstanding Sections 1 and 2 of this article, the standard
of time in this State, between 2 o'clock antemeridian on the last
Sunday in April and 2 o'clock antemeridian on the last Sunday in
October of each year, shall be one hour in advance of that prescribed
above, commonly known as daylight-saving time.

(b)  No department or other agency of the State government, and
1.0 county, municipal corporation, or other political subdivision of
the State may employ any time, or adopt any ordinance or order
providing for the use of any standard of time which does not con-
form to subsection (a) of this section.

(c) No person operating or maintaining a place of business may
display, or use any time other than that prescribed in subsection (a)

hereof. Any such person who violates a provision of this section is

guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof is subject to a

fine of not less than twenty-five or more than five hundred dollars,

or to imprisonment, for not less than ten or more than thirty days,
or both such fine and imprisonment.
HEREOF.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
