CHAPTER 158
(Senate Bill 487)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 205A (b)
of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Operation of Vehicles
Upon Highways", to change the requirements for appearances by
officials of the Department of Motor Vehicles in response to sub-
poenas of courts for the production of books and records of the
Department, and for production of copies or photostats of such
records under subpoenas,; AND PROVIDING FOR THE AT-
TENDANCE OF AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF
THE DEPARTMENT TO ANSWER THE SUBPOENA DUCES
TECUM.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 205A (b) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Oper-
ation of Vehicles Upon Highways", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
205A.
(b) Whenever any subpoena duces tecum shall be issued to the
Commissioner or any official of the Department for the production
in any proceeding in court of a copy or photostat of the books, papers,
entries, records or proceedings of the Department, it shall not be
necessary for the Commissioner or official of the Department to
whom the subpoena is issued or for any employee of the Department
to appear personally, [provided an employee of the Department
appears in the court to answer to the subpoena with a copy or photo-
stat] and a copy or photostat duly certified of the books, papers,
entries, records or proceedings of the Department submitted as pro-
vided herein shall be full compliance with the subpoena. UPON THE
APPLICATION TO THE COURT AND FOR GOOD CAUSE
SHOWN, THE COURT MAY COMPEL THE ATTENDANCE OF
AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF THE DEPARTMENT
TO ANSWER THE SUBPOENA DUCES TECUM.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 71B of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Administration—Registra-
tion—Titling", providing for the custody and disposition of certain
unclaimed motor vehicles in Anne Arundel County.
