(House Bill 52)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51 (g) of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and
1965 Supplement), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers"; and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 79, 80 and 81 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles
County (1959 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County," subtitle "County
Treasurer"; to change the designation or title of the assistant
treasurer in Charles County and to grant said aide full power to
perform the duties of the County Treasurer when called upon to
so act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51(g) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition and 1965 Supplement), title "County Commissioners,"
subtitle "County Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
51.
(g) The county treasurer of Charles County shall receive an
annual salary of $7,000.00. The salary of the [assistant] deputy
treasurer shall not exceed $5,000.00 per annum.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 79, 80 and 81 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1959 Edition,
being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Charles County," subtitle "County Treasurer," be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
79.
The said treasurer may appoint some person resident in said county
to be [assistant] deputy treasurer, who shall be authorized to act in
his place, perform all the duties and acts of the treasurer, and for
whose acts he shall be responsible, and who shall give such bond,
conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties imposed upon
him, as the treasurer may require.
80.
The said treasurer shall receive the annual compensation provided
for in Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition,
as amended from time to time), title "County Commissioners," and
shall receive no other fees or compensation whatsoever from any
other source for the performance of his duties as treasurer other
