may be inseparably connected in meaning and effect with the section
or part of section to which such holding shall directly apply.

Wherever in this article the word "town" shall appear, it shall be
taken and construed to mean also the word "city."]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 573
(Senate Bill 48)

AN ACT to add a new Section 45A to Article 54 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Land Office",
to follow immediately after Section 45 thereof, requiring that the
patenting of certain islands or other lands created in navigable
waters as a result of dredging or some other activity of the United
States, State of Maryland, or a political subdivision of the State of
Maryland, shall require the approval of the Board of Public Works.
AND PROVIDING THAT NOTHING IN THIS ACT APPLIES
TO ISLANDS WITHIN EITHER BALTIMORE OR DORCHES-
TER COUNTIES.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 45A be and it is hereby added to Article 54 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title
"Land Office", to follow immediately after Section 45 thereof, and
to read as follows:

45A. Islands or other lands created in any of the navigable waters
of this State as a result of dredging or some other activity of a de-
partment, board, bureau, commission or other agency of the United
States, or of this State or one of its political subdivisions, shall not
be granted by patent to any person, association, or corporation unless
the Board of Public Works by formal action recorded in its minutes
has approved the patent. NOTHING IN THIS SECTION APPLIES
TO ISLANDS WITHIN EITHER BALTIMORE OR DORCHESTER
COUNTIES.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
