license nor more than one Class A off sale beer license, for each unit
of fifteen hundred population, or major fraction thereof, in any one
election district. For the purposes of this section, the population of
each election district shall be as determined by the last federal census.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed to affect the validity of any licenses outstanding on
June 1,1966 nor to any renewals of such outstanding licenses.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 75
(House Bill 358)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 101 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Garrett County (1957 Edi-
tion, being Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Garrett County," subtitle "County Treasurer," to
provide that the County Commissioners shall provide additional
assistance to the County Treasurer at such time as he determines
a need and to provide for the salary of such person or persons.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 101 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Garrett County
(1957 Edition, being Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Garrett County," subtitle "County Treasurer," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
101.
The said Treasurer shall receive as compensation for all the serv-
ices required of him under this subtitle of this Article one per cent
on all taxes actually collected by him; and shall said Treasurer find it
necessary for his convenience at any time to appoint a deputy, he
shall pay said deputy out of his commissions; and he shall be an-
swerable for the acts of such deputy; and the County Commission-
ers shall at the time of making the annual levy, levy a sufficient
sum, by estimate, to cover the discount allowed the taxpayers and
compensation to the Treasurer provided for in the preceding sections.
It is further provided that when and at such time as the County
Treasurer shall determine that he is in need of additional assistance,
the County Commissioners shall provide the additional employee
or employees required and shall pay such employee or employees a
salary which shall be determined by the County Commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.
