Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 72-6 and 72-18 of the Montgomery County Code (1960
Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Montgomery County," subtitle "Maryland National
Capital Park and Planning Commission," AS AMENDED BY
CHAPTER 173 OF THE ACTS OF 1965, are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
72-6.
The commission shall be composed of the members, five of whom
shall be residents of Montgomery County and five of whom
shall be residents of Prince George's County,. Of the members of
the commission from each county, not more than three shall be mem-
bers of the same political party. At least one member from each
county shall be a resident of a predominantly agricultural portion
of the county which lies within the Regional District. All members
shall be persons of ability, experience and integrity and shall not
be selected as representing or supporting any special interest or
interests. All members of the commission to be appointed from each
county shall be appointed by the governing body of each county.

cil shall be required to select their respective appointments or re-
appointments from a list of applicants. Said list shall be open to the
public at all times, and shall be completed at least three weeks
prior to actual appointment or re-appointment. In the event that
county council does not appoint any individual whose name appears
on said list, or in the event that no name appears on said list, the
county council shall provide for the preparation of a second list and
shall follow the procedure applicable to the first said list. All such
appointments or re-appointments shall be subject to Section 72-18.
THE COMMISSION SHALL BE COMPOSED OF TEN MEM-
BERS, FIVE OF WHOM SHALL BE RESIDENTS OF MONT-
GOMERY COUNTY AND FIVE OF WHOM SHALL BE RESI-
DENTS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. OF THE MEMBERS
OF THE COMMISSION FROM EACH COUNTY, NOT MORE
THAN THREE SHALL BE MEMBERS OF THE SAME POLITI-
CAL PARTY. AT LEAST ONE MEMBER FROM EACH COUNTY
SHALL BE A RESIDENT OF A PREDOMINANTLY AGRICUL-
TURAL PORTION OF THE COUNTY WHICH LIES WITHIN
THE REGIONAL DISTRICT. ALL MEMBERS SHALL BE
PERSONS OF ABILITY, EXPERIENCE, AND INTEGRITY AND
SHALL NOT BE SELECTED AS REPRESENTING OR SUP-
PORTING ANY SPECIAL INTEREST OR INTERESTS. ALL
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION TO BE APPOINTED FROM
MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE
GOVERNING BODY OF THAT COUNTY. THE MEMBERS OF
THE COMMISSION TO BE APPOINTED FROM PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE GOVER-
NOR OF MARYLAND WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF
THE SENATE OF MARYLAND FROM A LIST OF NOT FEWER
THAN FOUR NAMES FOR EACH MEMBER SUBMITTED BY
THE GOVERNING BODY OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY.
IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY
COUNCIL SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SELECT THEIR RESPEC-
TIVE APPOINTMENTS OR RE-APPOINTMENTS FROM A LIST
