"County Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
51.
(g) The county treasurer of Charles County shall receive an
annual salary of [$6,000,00] $8,000.00 $7,000.00. The salary of the
assistant treasurer shall not exceed [$4,000.00] $5,000.00 per annum.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Treasurer in
office on the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the
next term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 578)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 277 (n)
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "Recordation Tax,"
to increase the recordation tax in Charles County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 277 (n) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle
"Recordation Tax," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
277.
(n) The rate of tax applicable to instruments recorded with
the clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore City and with the
clerk of the Circuit Court for Charles County shall be as follows:
In the case of instruments conveying title to property, the tax
shall be at the rate of $1.65 for each $500 or fractional part
thereof of the actual consideration paid or to be paid; in the case
of instruments securing a debt, the tax shall be at the rate of $1.65
for each $500 of the principal amount of the debt secured.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.
