532                             LAWS OF MARYLAND                     [CH. 364

THAT SECTION 5-8 OF THE FREDERICK COUNTY CODE,
1959 (BEING ARTICLE 11 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL
LAWS OF MARYLAND), TITLE "FREDERICK COUNTY,"
SUBTITLE "CHAPTER 5. COURTS," SUBHEADING "ARTICLE
II. CIRCUIT COURT," AS LAST AMENDED BY CHAPTER 17
OF THE ACTS OF THE FIRST SPECIAL SESSION OF MARCH
19, 1964, BE AND IT IS HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-
ENACTED, WITH AMENDMENTS, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

(c-4) (c) The County Commissioners of Frederick County are

directed to pay from any amounts received from the State Comp-
troller under the provisions of this subsection (c-1), in addition

to the sums provided by Section 5-8 of the Frederick County Code,

1959, an amount not to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars,

($2,500.00) per annum to each of the judges of the Circuit Court

of the Sixth Judicial Circuit who reside in Frederick County [, and

who were serving in such positions prior to January 1, 1964].

5-8.

(a) The County Commissioners are authorized to pay to each of the
judges of the Circuit Court for the Sixth Judicial Circuit who
reside in the county a sum not to exceed four thousand five hundred
dollars annually, in addition to the salary received by each judge
from the State. Such payments shall be made in equal monthly
installments. The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to
levy upon the assessable property of the county a tax sufficient to
pay such amounts. [This section applies only to judges who are
serving in such positions prior to January 1, 1964.]

(B) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE AUTHORIZED
TO PAY TO ANY JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR THE
SIXTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT WHO RESIDES IN THE COUNTY
AND WHO WAS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIED AFTER JAN-
UARY 1,1964, THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($2,500.00) IN ADDITION TO THE SALARY RE-
CEIVED BY SUCH JUDGE FROM THE STATE. THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO LEVY
UPON THE ASSESSABLE PROPERTY OF THE COUNTY A
TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY SUCH AMOUNTS.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
