(6) A judgment or decree entered pursuant to the provisions of
this article.
(b) The appeal shall be taken in the manner and to the same
extent as from orders or judgments in a civil action.

Where a party dies after making a written agreement to submit
a controversy to arbitration, the proceedings may be begun or con-
tinued upon the application of, or upon notice to, his executor or
administrator or, where it relates to real property, his distributee
or devisee who has succeeded to his interest in the real property.
Where a committee of the property or of the person of a party to
such an agreement is appointed, the proceedings may be continued
upon the application of, or notice to, the committee. Upon the death
or incompetency of a party, the court may extend the time within
which an application to confirm, vacate or modify the award or to
stay arbitration must be made. Where a party has died since an
award was delivered, the proceedings thereupon are the same as
where a party dies after a verdict.

This article applies only to agreements made subsequent to the
taking effect of this article.

This article shall be so construed as to effectuate its general pur-
pose to make uniform the law of those states which enact it.
22.
If any provision of this article or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, the invalidity shall not affect
other provisions or applications of the article which can be given
effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end
the provisions of this article are severable.
28.
This article may be cited as the Maryland Uniform Arbitration Act.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 132A of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Howard County (1957 Edition,
being Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Howard County," subtitle "Metropolitan Commission," as
added by Chapter 748 of the Acts of 1961, authorizing the Com-
