receive as compensation for the professional services rendered by
him as such attorney a sum determined by the commissioners, such
sum to be paid [in equal monthly installments] as salary in lieu of
all fees and other compensation for services rendered the board.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 666)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 8-23 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick County (1959 Edition,
being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Frederick County," subtitle "Part I. General Local Laws,"
subheading "Chapter 8. Finance and Taxation," as amended by
Chapter 466 of the Acts of 1947; and to repeal Section 8-27 of
the said Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick County; to repeal
the requirement that the County Treasurer collect and receive taxes
on at least one day in each election district in Frederick County and
to repeal the requirement that the County Treasurer deposit monies
in the bank bidding the highest rate of interest.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8-23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick
County (1959 Edition, being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Frederick County," subtitle "Part I.
General Local Laws," subheading "Chapter 8. Finance and Taxation,"
as amended by Chapter 466 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments; that Section 8-27 of the
said Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick County be and it is
hereby repealed, and all to read as follows:
8-23.
The county treasurer shall be collector of all state and county taxes
for the county, for whatsoever purpose, which shall be levied or
assessed during his term of office, in the same manner and to the
same extent and with the same powers heretofore exercised by the
county treasurer and collector of state and county taxes for the
county, under the laws of the state. He shall receive and collect all
state and county taxes, levied or assessed or placed in his hands for
collection, with full power and authority to enforce the payment of
the same by distraint, sale or otherwise, and also receive all moneys
which shall be due and payable to the county from any source what-
soever. The county treasurer is hereby authorized and empowered
to convey to purchasers thereof, the title to any real or personal prop-
erty sold by him for the payment of state and county taxes or either
of them.
During the continuance of his office as treasurer, he shall collect
all taxes levied by the county commissioners and shall receive all
