2-13.

The county commissioners are hereby authorized, in their discre-
tion, not mandatorily, to levy and collect a tax on all the assessable
property in the county, in each year, [in a sum not to exceed fifteen
thousand dollars, to be paid by the treasurer to the trustees of the
C. Burr Artz Library, the same being a free, public library, for the
purpose of the annual care and maintenance of such library] in such
sum as shall be considered necessary for the operations, maintenance,
and annual care of the public libraries in Frederick County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 222
(House Bill 662)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 13-8 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick County (1959 Edition,
being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Frederick County," subtitle "Part I. General Local Laws,"
subheading "Chapter 13. Roads and Public Grounds," to change
the depositary account for county roads funds in Frederick County
from the County Roads Board to the County Treasurer.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 13-8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick
County (1959 Edition, being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Frederick County," subtitle "Part I. Gen-
eral Local Laws," subheading "Chapter 13. Roads and Public
Grounds," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

13-8.

All funds designated for county road purposes by federal, state or
county governments shall be paid to the county treasurer, who shall
deposit the same [in a special account in the name of the county roads
board.] in the name of the County Treasurer. Such funds shall be
used only for county road purposes, which shall include the payment
of all salaries and expenses incidental to the operation of the county
roads board. All disbursements from such funds shall be upon written
order of the county commissioners.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
