No action shall be maintained and no claim shall be allowed against
any county or municipal corporation of Maryland, CHARLES, HAR-
FORD, KENT, MONTGOMERY, PRINCE GEORGE'S, QUEEN
ANNE'S, WASHINGTON, WICOMICO, WORCESTER COUNTIES
for unliquidated damages for any injury or damage to person or prop-
erty unless, within ninety days SIX MONTHS after the injury or
damage was sustained, written notice thereof setting forth the time,
place and cause of the alleged damage, loss, injury or death shall
be presented either in person or by registered mail by the claimant,
his agent or attorney, or in case of death, by his executor or adminis-
trator, to the city solicitor of Baltimore City, the county commis-
sioners, or the corporate authorities of the municipal corporation,
as the case may be, COUNTY COUNCIL OR THE GOVERNING
BODY OF SAID COUNTY. The provisions of this section shall
only apply to Anne Arundel, Caroline, Montgomery, [and] Prince
George's [counties.] and Harford counties; provided further that in
Harford County the time for notice shall be extended to six months
after the injury or damage was sustained. IN ANNE ARUNDEL
AND CAROLINE COUNTIES THE TIME FOR NOTICE AS
SET FORTH HEREIN SHALL BE LIMITED TO NINETY DAYS
AFTER THE INJURY OR DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

AN ACT to repeal Section 704 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments,"
subtitle "Department of Correction," subheading "Miscellaneous,"
and to enact new Section 704 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place
of the section repealed, to provide for the promulgation of minimum
standards for jails by the Department of Correction; to provide
for the inspection of such places by the Department, the report of
its findings and action to be taken thereon; and relating generally
to the Department of Correction's jurisdiction over local jails and
other such places.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 704 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "De-
partment of Correction, subheading "Miscellaneous," be and it is
hereby repealed; that new Section 704 be and it is hereby enacted
in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section repealed, and all to
read as follows:

(a) It shall be the duty of the Department of Correction to
promulgate and publish, after due notice to interested officials and
