AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 32B of
Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supplement),
title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the Counties—Court
Stenographer," providing two ONE additional Circuit Court judges
for Montgomery County., ONE TO BE SELECTED AS PRO-
VIDED BY SECTION 5 OF ARTICLE 4 OF THE MARYLAND
CONSTITUTION. AND ONE TO BE ELECTED AT THE NEXT
GENERAL ELECTION FOR REPRESENTATIVES IN CON-
GRESS AFTER THE ADOPTION OF THIS AMENDMENT.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 32B of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Circuit Courts for the
Counties—Court Stenographer," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
32B.
In addition to the [four] five SIX judges for the sixth judicial
circuit for which provision is made by Section 21 of Article 4 of
the Constitution of Maryland there shall be [an] two ONE additional
[judge] judges who shall be [a resident] residents of Montgomery
County. Said ONE SAID [judge] judges shall be selected in the
manner provided by Section 5 of Article 4 of the Constitution of
Maryland THE VACANCY FOR A SECOND JUDGE IN MONT-
GOMERY COUNTY CREATED BY THE ADOPTION OF THIS
AMENDMENT SHALL NOT BE FILLED BY APPOINTMENT
AS PROVIDED BY SECTION 5 OF ARTICLE 4 OF THE CON-
STITUTION OF MARYLAND, BUT AT THE FIRST BIENNIAL
GENERAL ELECTION FOR REPRESENTATIVES IN CON-
GRESS, AFTER THE ADOPTION OF THIS AMENDMENT A
JUDGE SHALL BE ELECTED BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY TO FILL SAID SECOND VA-
CANCY IN SUCH COUNTY. and BOTH SAID JUDGES AND
shall be subject to all of the provisions of the Constitution and laws
relating to the sixth judicial circuit and the several judges thereof.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
