George's County (1963 Edition), and new Section 73-83A to the
Montgomery County Code (1960 Edition), being Articles 17 and
16, respectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
titles "Prince George's County," and "Montgomery County," sub-
title "Washington Suburban Sanitary District," extending the
Commission's authority to adopt and enforce gas fitting regula-
tions to those areas of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties
COUNTY not heretofore embraced within such authority of the
Commission, providing procedures for the extension to those areas
of the existing gas fitting regulations, and providing penalties
for violations of this Act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 83-102A of the Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1963 Edition), and new Section 73-83A of the Montgomery
County Code (1960 Edition), being Articles 17 and 16, respectively,
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles "Prince George's
County" and "Montgomery County," subtitle "Washington Sub-
urban Sanitary District," be and it is hereby added, to follow imme-
diately after Sections 83-102 and 73-83 of the respective Codes, and
to read as follows:
83-102 A. (73-83 A).
The authority of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
to adopt, formulate, promulgate and devise rules and regulations for
the construction, installation and equipment of gas fixtures, devices
and connections from the outlet of the meter supplying any building,
which is provided for by Chapter 451 of the Acts of 1943, as amended,
being Sections 83-102 and 73-83 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County and Montgomery County, respectively,
is extended to include those portions of Prince George's and Mont-
gomery Counties COUNTY not now within the Maryland-Washington
Metropolitan District, and from and after June 1, 1965, the Com-
mission's gas fitting regulations shall apply to all the area within
both Counties SAID COUNTY. The Commission shall have no
jurisdiction, however, over bottled gas, nor shall its rules and regu-
lations apply to premises upon which only bottled gas is consumed.
The Commission shall have the same authority to adopt and revise
rules and regulations, subject to the same procedures for adoption
and revision, however, as specified in Section 83-102 (73-83) for the
portions of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties COUNTY
made subject to the gas fitting regulations by this section, and a
violation of this section or of the Commission's rules and regulations
adopted hereunder shall be punishable in the same manner as speci-
fied in said Section 83-102 (73-83).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That if any word, phrase,
clause, sentence or any part or parts of this Act shall be held uncon-
stitutional by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitu-
tionally shall not affect the validity of the remaining parts of this
Act.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
