J. MILLARD TAWES, Governor                     1155

(a)  Beginning for the academic year 1966-67 and thereafter, one
student from each senatorial district of the State, appointed accord-
ing to the provisions of Section 282 of this article, shall be educated
by the College free of charge for tuition, room and board. Each
student accepting such an appointment shall pursue a course of study
at the College leading to a regular teacher's certificate in the public
school system of Maryland, and shall give bond to the State of
Maryland, according to the provisions of Section 284B of this article,
that he or she will teach in the public schools of the State for not less
than two years.

(b)  Beginning for the academic year 1967-68 and thereafter, one
student from each senatorial district of the State, appointed accord-
ing to the provisions of Section 282 of this article, and beginning for
the academic year 1968-69 and thereafter, one additional student
from each senatorial district of the State, appointed according to
Section 282 of this article, shall be educated by the College free of
charge for tuition.

(C) IN THE APPOINTMENT OF ANY SCHOLARSHIP RE-
FERRED TO IN THIS SECTION, WESTERN MARYLAND COL-
LEGE SHALL NOTIFY THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY
WHETHER THE EXISTING VACANCY SHALL BE FILLED BY
A MALE OR FEMALE STUDENT.

267.

There is hereby established a program of State scholarships for
students enrolled in the Maryland Institute of Baltimore City.

(a)  Beginning for the academic year 1967-68 and thereafter, one
student from each senatorial district of the State, appointed accord-
ing to the provisions of Section 282 of this article, shall be educated
by the Institute free of charge for tuition.

(b)  Beginning for the academic year 1968-69 and thereafter, six
students residing within the State, appointed according to the pro-
visions of Section 282 of this article without regard to the senatorial
districts in which they individually may reside, shall be educated by
the Institute free of charge for tuition.

268.

There is hereby established a program of State scholarships for
students enrolled in the University of Maryland.

(a)  Beginning for the academic year 1967-68 and thereafter, three
students from each senatorial district of the State, appointed accord-
ing to the provisions of Section 282 of this article, shall be educated
by the University free of charge for tuition.

(b)  In addition, beginning for the academic year 1967-68 and
thereafter, a number of students from each senatorial district of the
State, equal to the number of Delegates which such district may be
entitled to elect to the House of Delegates, appointed according to
the provisions of Section 282 of this article, shall be educated, by
the University free of charge for tuition.

272.

There is hereby established a program of State scholarships for
students enrolled in Washington College at Chestertown.
