1060                              LAWS OF MARYLAND                       [CH. 728

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 108(19) SECTIONS 108 (19) AND 119 (A) of Article
52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), (1964 RE-
PLACEMENT VOLUME), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title
"Trial Magistrates System", be and it is THEY ARE hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows :

108.

(19) There shall be two trial magistrates one of whom shall sit at
Crisfield and the other at Princess Anne, and each of said magistrates
shall receive an annual salary of [two thousand eight hundred dol-
lars ($2,800)] three thousand dollars ($3,000). The magistrate sit-
ting at Princess Anne shall sit from 9 A.M. to 12 o'clock noon, Mon-
day to Friday, inclusive, and the magistrate sitting at Crisfield shall
sit from 2 P. M. to 5 P. M., Monday to Friday, inclusive.

119.

(A) IN ADDITION TO THE JUSTICES OF THE PEACE AND
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE AT LARGE HEREINBEFORE SPE-
CIFIED, THE GOVERNOR, BY AND WITH THE ADVICE AND
CONSENT OF THE SENATE, SHALL APPOINT ONE JUSTICE
OF THE PEACE AT LARGE FOR EACH COUNTY OF THE
STATE, EXCEPT ANNE ARUNDEL, MONTGOMERY, PRINCE
GEORGE'S AND KENT COUNTIES, WHO SHALL BE DESIG-
NATED "SUBSTITUTE TRIAL MAGISTRATE". SUCH MAG-
ISTRATE SHALL POST THE BOND REQUIRED OF TRIAL
MAGISTRATES AND SHALL RECEIVE A SALARY OF $100.00
PER YEAR, EXCEPT THERE SHALL BE FIVE SUBSTITUTE
MAGISTRATES APPOINTED FOR BALTIMORE COUNTY,
EACH OF WHOM SHALL RECEIVE $2,000.00 PER YEAR IN
ADDITION TO THE COMPENSATION RECEIVED WHEN
ACTUALLY SITTING AS A SUBSTITUTE AS HEREINAFTER
PROVIDED, AND EXCEPT THE SUBSTITUTE MAGISTRATE
APPOINTED FOR SOMERSET COUNTY, WHO SHALL RE-
CEIVE ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) PER YEAR IN
ADDITION TO THE COMPENSATION RECEIVED WHEN
ACTUALLY SITTING AS A SUBSTITUTE, AS HEREINAFTER
PROVIDED AND EXCEPT THE SUBSTITUTE MAGISTRATE
APPOINTED FOR CECIL COUNTY, WHO SHALL RECEIVE
$300.00 PER YEAR IN ADDITION TO THE COMPENSATION
RECEIVED WHEN ACTUALLY SITTING AS A SUBSTITUTE,
AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the trial magistrates in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
shall take effect with the next term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
