of the Board of Public Works to be issued and the governing bodies
of each of the counties and Baltimore City shall forthwith levy and
collect such tax at such rate.
Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, That it is the legislative inten-
tion to provide financial assistance for capital expenses which may
be incurred after the effective date of this act in the acquisition of
land for, and the construction of, public regional community colleges.
Sec. 9. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(Senate Bill 428)
AN ACT to add new Section 35 (a-1) to Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "Per-
manent Registration", to follow immediately after Section 35 (a)
thereof, to require permanent registration of voters in Calvert
County, to provide for registrars who are in charge of registration
in the county, to fix their pay, and to fix the days and hours for
registration of voters in the county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 35 (a-1) be and it is hereby added to Article 33 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Elections",
sub-title "Permanent Registration", to follow immediately after
Section 35 (a) thereof, and to read as follows:
35 (a-1).
(a) In Calvert County, the Board of Election Supervisors is
required to institute permanent registration of voters as required by
this sub-title and to require the transfer of the names of persons
previously registered to the forms or cards required herein for the
permanent registration of voters. All of the provisions of this sub-
title are applicable in the county except as otherwise specifically
modified herein.
(b) Registration of voters in the county is carried out by two
registrars appointed by the Board, one representing each of the two
major political parties in the State. One of the registrars may be
the person who is the clerk to the Board. The registrars each receive
compensation of ten dollars ($10.00) for each day on which voters
are registered.
(c) The days of registration are in odd numbered years SHALL
BE on one TWO Saturday SATURDAYS in each month, the dates
in each month to be designated by the Board. In even numbered
years, the days of registration are on Tuesday and SHALL BE ON
Saturday of each week. On any day of registration the hours of
registration are from nine o'clock AM. to five o'clock P.M.
