(Senate Bill 307)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section (c)
of Section 3A of Article 62 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Marriages", changing the di-
vision of fees received by clerks of court for performing a marriage
ceremony. AND PROVIDING THAT IN GARRETT COUNTY
A CERTAIN PORTION OF SAID FEES SHALL BE PAID TO
THE GARRETT COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (c) of Section 3A of Article 62 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Marriages",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

3A.

(c) The clerks, deputies or other clerks shall receive for perform-
ing a marriage ceremony a fee of ten dollars ($10.00), of which
[two dollars ($2.00)] five dollars ($5.00) THREE DOLLARS ($3.00)
shall be retained by the clerks and deposited and disbursed in the
same manner as other fees collected by the clerks, and the remaining
[eight dollars ($8.00)] five dollars ($5.00) SEVEN DOLLARS
($7.00) of the fee shall be paid by the clerks monthly into the
general funds of the county or City of Baltimore. EXCEPT THAT
IN GARRETT COUNTY, THE CLERK SHALL PAY FIVE DOL-
LARS ($5.00) OF THE REMAINING SEVEN DOLLARS ($7.00)
MONTHLY INTO THE GENERAL FUNDS OF THE COUNTY
AND FORWARD THE REMAINING TWO DOLLARS ($2.00) TO
THE GARRETT COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR ITS
GENERAL USE. Except that in Cecil County and Baltimore City

four dollars ($4.00) shall be retained by the clerks and deposited

and disbursed in the same manner as other fees collected by the

clerks and the remaining six dollars ($6.00) of the fee shall be paid

monthly into the general funds of the county of City of Baltimore.

No clerk, deputy or other clerk shall receive any other fee, remunera-
tion, or gift of any kind for performing a marriage ceremony not
authorized herein.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
