INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTION

Senate Resolution expressing deepest regrets over the passing of Mr.
Charles Edward Wright of Charles County.

The members of the Senate of Maryland learned with deepest
regret of the passing of Mr. Charles Edward Wright of Charles
County.

Mr. Wright was a long-time resident and businessman of Indian
Head in Charles County. He owned and operated Wright's Confec-
tionery. Before going into business, he had worked on a farm in
Charles County, been a clerk in a store, and during World War I, an
employee of the Naval Powder Factory. He went into business in
Wright's Confectionery in 1921. Mr. Wright was an able and
respected citizen and resident of Charles County. Highly active in
civic and community affairs, he was a member of the Board of
Directors of the Bank of Indian Head, and for the past five years
served as president of this board. He also was a former town com-
missioner for Indian Head, president of the Indian Head Indians
Baseball Club and member and director of the Indian Head Volunteer
Fire Department.

For some years, Mr. Wright owned "Plenty," a large and historic
tobacco farm in the Port Tobacco area.

In the passing of Mr. Charles Edward Wright, Charles County has
lost a respected citizen and leader. He was active in a great variety
of civic, community, and fraternal groups and at all times con-
tributed generously of his time, talents, and energies; now, therefore,
be it

Resolved by the Senate of Maryland, That the deepest regrets of
this body be expressed over the passing of Mr. Charles Edward
Wright of Charles County, and be it further,

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to send a
copy of this Resolution to the surviving family of Mr. Wright in care
of Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Wright, Indian Head, Maryland.

Read and adopted.
