DEEMED TO BE IN ALL RESPECTS A REFERENCE TO THE
"MARYLAND CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION—HAGERS-
TOWN" OR THE "MARYLAND CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION
FOR WOMEN JESSUPS JESSUP," RESPECTIVELY.

SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1964.

CHAPTER 46
(Senate Bill 15)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 1 through 14, inclusive, of Article 38A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1963 Supplement), title
"Fires and Investigations," subtitle "Fire Investigation Bureau,"
and to repeal said subtitle, and to enact new Sections 1 through 14,
inclusive, and new subtitles "Fire Prevention Commission and Fire
Marshal" and "Appeals" in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the
sections and subtitle so repealed; to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, and renumber and recodify Sections 15 through 20,
inclusive, thereof, subtitle "Fireworks"; to repeal and re-enact,
with amendments, and renumber and recodify Sections 21 through
27, inclusive, and Sections 29 through 32, inclusive, thereof, sub-
title "Explosives"; to repeal Section 28 thereof, subtitle "Explo-
sives"; and to repeal Section 489 of Article 48A of said Code, title
"Insurance Code," subtitle "Miscellaneous," providing for the
establishment of a State Fire Prevention Commission and for
its members, and their appointment, powers and duties, abolish-
ing the position of ex-officio Fire Marshal held by the State In-
surance Commissioner and establishing the position and office
of State Fire Marshal and providing for his appointment, powers
and duties, providing for the transfer of the functions of the
State Fire Marshal's office in the State Insurance Department to
the State Fire Marshal's office hereby established, providing for
the promulgation of a State Fire Prevention Code and regula-
tions and establishing procedures for their adoption, modification,
and repeal, relating to licensing of manufacturers, dealers in, and
possessors of explosives, correcting errors in the law, and gen-
erally revising the laws of this State relating to fires and investiga-
tions, fireworks, and explosives.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 1 through 14, inclusive, of Article 38A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1963 Supplement), title "Fires and Investiga-
tions," subtitle "Fire Investigation Bureau," be and they are hereby
repealed and that said subtitle be and it is hereby repealed, and that
new Sections 1 through 14, inclusive, and new subtitles "Fire Pre-
vention Commission and Fire Marshal" and "Appeals" be and they
