Whereas, The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is the only sporting dog
which has the distinction of being of true Maryland origin, and

Whereas, this excellent retriever of waterfowl has the additional
distinction of being recognized by the American Kennel Club as
being purely American, and

Whereas, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is closely associated with
the pleasures of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 41 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Governor—Execu-
tive and Administrative Departments", said new section to be known
as Section 77B, to be under a new sub-title "Maryland Dog", to fol-
low immediately after Section 77A and to read as follows:

77B—The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is hereby declared to be the
official Dog of the State of Maryland.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

Approved April 7, 1964.

CHAPTER 157
(House Bill 118)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 152B,
266A (c), and 694 (a) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1963 Supplement), title "Health," subtitles, respective-
ly, "State Board of Veterinary Examiners," "Commissioners of
Pharmacy," and "Air Pollution," to clarify and correct errors in
the laws relating to public health, especially those concerning the
State Board of Veterinary Examiners, licenses of pharmacists,
and the Air Pollution Control Council.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 152B, 266A (c), and 694 (a) of Article 43 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1963 Supplement), title "Health," subtitles,
respectively, "State Board of Veterinary Examiners," "Commis-
sioners of Pharmacy," and "Air Pollution," be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

152B.

A qualified licensed veterinarian may employ an assistant who has
obtained a temporary permit provided that the assistant has met all
the requirements of the Board as set forth in this subtitle. Any
[persons] person applying for a temporary permit must associate
himself with a qualified licensed veterinarian in the State, and his
work shall be limited to the practice of the qualified veterinarian and
he shall not participate in the practice or operation of a branch office,
