CHAPTER 146
(House Bill 201)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 287 (c) of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Operation of Vehicles Upon High-
ways," to permit vehicles to flash both front and both rear turn
signals simultaneously to indicate a vehicular traffic hazard when
the vehicle is to be stopped for a period not to exceed ten minutes
and to provide for placing of emergency signals for stops of longer
duration.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 287(c) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Operation of
Vehicles Upon Highways," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

287.

(c) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as a
means of indicating a right or left turn, but this section shall not apply
to authorized emergency vehicles. Provided, that vehicles which are
so equipped may flash both front and both rear turn signals simul-
taneously as a vehicular traffic hazard whenever such vehicle is
stopped on the traveled portion of any highway or the shoulder
thereof, during the period lighted lamps are required. These flashing
warning signals shall be given continually if the stop is not to exceed
10 minutes. If the stop is to exceed 10 minutes the driver shall place
emergency signals as provided in Section 300 of this Article.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

CHAPTER 147
(House Bill 202)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 323 (d-1)
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1963 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "Income Tax," amend-
ing the laws concerning the distribution of State income tax in
order to provide for a distribution to the several incorporated
municipalities from withholding receipts and estimated tax pay-
ments.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 323 (d-1) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1963 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "Income
Tax," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
